Publication Ethics and Principles
-Arete Journal of Political Philosophy is an international double blind peer-reviewed e-journal that is published every six months, twice a year, winter and summer.
-Arete Journal of Political Philosophy is a non-profit periodical publication in the field of political philosophy. It aims to share scientific and original studies on political philosophy publicly. Everyone who participates in the Journal publication process as author, editor, reviewer, and so on, comply with the international ethical principles followed in the scientific works. The articles that do not discriminate between religion, language, race, genre, and gender and that succeed in looking at the given thought critically rather than reproducing it directly are evaluated by the editorial board.
-The editorial board consists of experts in political philosophy and social sciences. It pre-estimates the studies submitted to the Journal in accordance with the publication ethics. It sends the articles that meet the conditions to two referees interested in the subject. Referee reports are sent to the author within one month at the latest after the submission of the article. The author of the article makes the changes and corrections required by the referee report.
-The articles submitted to our journal for publication should not have been published anywhere or submitted for evaluation before.
-The author of the work which is sent to the Journal agrees to waive the copyright and transfers the copyright of the work to Arete Journal of Political Philosophy.
-The copyright agreement form, stating that the article has not been published or sent elsewhere, should be signed and scanned by the authors and sent via e-mail (info@aretejournal.org). The articles sent to the journal should be sent together with the plagiarism screening report (intihal.net, turnitin, etc.). A work with a similarity rate of more than fifteen percent will not be accepted.
-Plagiarism, duplication, fraud authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, salami slicing/salami publication, breaching of copyrights, and prevailing conflict of interest are unethical behaviors.
-The editorial and publication processes of the journal are shaped in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and National Information Standards Organization (NISO), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
-Arete Journal of Political Philosophy is an open access journal. Processing and publication are free of charge with the journal. No fees are requested from the authors at any point throughout the evaluation and publication process.

They must certify that the manuscript has not previously been published elsewhere or is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere, in any language. Any work or words of other authors, contributors, or sources must be appropriately credited and referenced.
All the authors of a submitted manuscript must have direct scientific and academic contribution to the manuscript. The author(s) of the original research articles is defined as a person who is significantly involved in “conceptualization and design of the study”, “collecting the data”, “analyzing the data”, “writing the manuscript”, “reviewing the manuscript with a critical perspective” and “planning/conducting the study of the manuscript and/or revising it”. Fund raising, data collection or supervision of the research group are not sufficient roles to be accepted as an author. The author(s) must meet all these criteria described above. The order of names in the author list of an article must be a co-decision and it must be indicated in the Copyright Agreement Form. The individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria but contributed to the study must take place in the acknowledgement section. Individuals providing technical support, assisting writing, providing a general support, providing material or financial support are examples to be indicated in acknowledgement section.
All authors must disclose all issues concerning financial relationship, conflict of interest, and competing interest that may potentially influence the results of the research or scientific judgment.
For researches requiring ethics committee permit, approval of ethics committee is obligatory. This approval should be stated and documented in the article.
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published paper, it is the author’s obligation to promptly cooperate with the Editor to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.
If the articles produced from the thesis should be mentioned separately in the footnote on the introduction page of the article.
Scientific and legal responsibility of the articles published in Arete Journal of Political Philosophy belongs to their authors.
The articles to be submitted for publication should be sent from the manuscript submission tab on the Journal’s main page.
